yarns at hobajing narrative practice are reflective and encompassing of culture, self and profession. Together, we explore how to do more of what does work and less of what doesn’t in your specific professional and personal space. Yarns are centred around empathetic engagement where you can safely speak about your fears, your desires, your frustrations and your needs. See below for our live yarns and click group or offline for our other options.

Live yarns are personal, challenging, instructive and offer hands on participation and immediate clarification whether your looking to engage in personal counselling, cultural supervision or professional supervision. Our Counsellors and Supervisors are accredited through ACA and all staff identify as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Australian.

Live yarning sessions refer to face to face catchups, phone or conversations through Teams or Zoom. Yarns can start as early as 8am and finish as late as 8pm Australian Eastern Standard Time. Face to face catchups are available in the Robertson Office. Video and phone sessions do come with the advantages of privacy, comfort in one’s own home and not having to travel. The disadvantage though is that when someone is in front of you, you can take in body language, which may be giving off an entirely different attitude to the words being used. For instance, say the same thing with a smile and then a frown. So communicating over the phone or on video requires more effort for both the Counsellor and the Client to relay our intentions. Video may also require you to have updated technology.
