what can you do to support yourself

I strongly encourage you to be a part of your own decisionmaking. Do the research, ask the questions, be curious and take your own chances. Sometimes the journey alone will build more confidence within you, than the actual knowledge you find. Language literacy doesn’t have to get in the way of learning as there are many many resources that also have video and audio options.
